Grand Canyon Minority Supplier
Development Council
|
The Grand Canyon Minority Supplier Development Council, which serves the Hispanic,
African American, Asian and Native American business communities, continues its revitalization with all new “stuff”.It has a new staff, new office location, new logo, new marketing brochure, new marketing campaign to reach seasoned minority firms,
new growth, and new goals & initiatives. Their new “Project Look Ahead” is designed to increase business opportunities for their certified minority firms. The council will soon be announcing the appointment of their new Ambassadors who will play a significant role in the continued growth of the council. The council certifies and advocates for minority businesses in AZ.
Ron Williams, President/CEO of the Council, relayed that, “these were necessary changes”.
The Council, which recently had its Open House at their new location, added new staff members Carmen Johnson and Gena Morales. The new logo is a major component of the new marketing campaign that will include a new brochure and new promo video. Williams avowed that, “the council is committed to serving its purpose of developing MBEs of all sizes. When I began my tenure a year ago, the entire council team had
to “get real” about the failing state of the council and make a conscious effort to either “lead, follow, or get out of the way”. We have made some major breakthroughs and I am buoyant about the council’s future”.
In 2006, the council is looking forward to hosting the National Quarterly Conference at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix, and its annual events: Awards Dinner & Dance, Trade Fair & Business Summit, Golf Tournament and Holiday Reception. More information is available at 602-495-9950 or www.gcmsdc.org

Council on American Islamic Relations of Arizona
|
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, Arizona chapter (CAIRAZ)
is dedicated to presenting an Islamic perspective on issues of
importance to the American public. In offering that perspective, we
seek to empower the Muslim community in America through political
and social activism.
CAIR’s vision is to be a leading advocate for justice and mutual understanding.
CAIR’s mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
CAIR-AZ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-deductible grassroots advocacy and civil rights organization. The national headquarters for CAIR is in Washington, D.C. and there are over 32 affiliated CAIR chapters across America. CAIR was established to promote
an accurate image of Islam and Muslims in America. We believe that misrepresentations of Islam today are most often the result of ignorance on the part of non-Muslims and reluctance on the part of Muslims to clearly articulate our beliefs.
CAIR-AZ was formed in July 2001 and we opened the doors to our office in February 2003. Since then, we have made a positive impact on the Arizona community, with dozens of stories and consistent coverage in all local mainstream media outlets.
As a leading voice for the Arizona Muslim Community, we strive to maintain the highest ethical standards in all of our endeavors. In our work towards portraying an accurate image of Islam in America, we offer diverse training presentations, workshops, and seminars to empower and motivate the American Muslim community to participate effectively in political, social, and civic activism.
